SAF (STEAM Azerbaijan Festival) 2022 will be held at the Baku Expo Center on December 5-9, 2022 within the STEAM Azerbaijan project and with the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The STEAM Azerbaijan Festival will be conducted in a international manner in 2022.
All general education and higher education (public, private, etc.) students from every district and city in the country, as well as international students, are eligible to compete in numerous categories in the form of the teams. Along with the students from other educational institutions, applications are accepted from vocational, secondary, extracurricular educational institutions, independently, for the category of "Exhibition of creative projects" conducted within the festival.
The STEAM Azerbaijan Festival is organized in the format of a competition in 10 categories, as well as in the format of an exhibition of cutting-edge innovations projects in 1 category.
The purpose of the festival is to support STEAM-based education, help 21st century skills among students, identify and network creative, digital tech-savvy students, and research international experience in innovation and digitalization.
STEAM Azerbaijan Festival was organized for the first time on December 9 and 10, 2021. 10 categories including "STEAM Open (Makerthon)", "Hackathon", "Micro:Bit", "Lego Sumo", "Line follower", "3D Cad", "Short Movie", "Edu Drone", "Humanoid Robot" were present during the first festival. In addition, students were given the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the "Escape Room" based on quest technologies module and become an active participant in the game. A total of 892 competitors from 289 teams participated in the festival.

The STEAM Azerbaijan project has been operating in our country since the 2019–2020 academic year, taking into mind that the globalization of our education is a major priority.
With the support of the Education Institute of the Ministry of Science and Education, the "STEAM Azerbaijan" project officially started in the 2019–2020 academic year at the initiative of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva.
STEAM education approach is a integration of the 5 core disciplines. It is based on the idea of teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics in a joint manner and holistically. The main objective of the STEAM project is to show the 21st century skills - creativity, critical thinking, development of cooperation, application of scientific and technical knowledge in everyday life through practical exercises for the students studying in the public schools of the Republic, to teach them engineering skills, to improve their ability to use modern ICT equipment by applying various programming languages.
